― Texty sharing their findings, “Batch Two” |
Texty is a contestant from the second season of ONE and a supporting character in ONE.
They are a Hidden Object from Earth and one of six contestants teleported to The Plane in the third episode, "Screwball", and were one of the 4 members of Team A prior to their elimination in "La Salle D'attente". They later appeared in Season Two from "Bradley" up until "You Move, I Send" where they play a major role, assisting Liam and Bryce on their mission to stop ONE from continuing and to find Airy. They currently reside inside their laptop in an inactive state due to it being uncharged.
They are mainly voiced through Microsoft Zira Text-to-Speech.
Appearance[]
Texty is a transparent text box. When they speak, they type words instead of talking. They type exclusively in lowercase, not seeming to care much for grammar. When using contractions, they sometimes leave out the apostrophe.
Personality[]
Texty is a very mellow and laid back text box, often trying to do their best for others, more specifically their team. In "Screwball", they win the challenge for their team, but apologize when they realize Bryce and Liam wanted to lose. In "Walls", they warn Liam about Stone, showing that they do care about what their team wants. Texty also tries to lower tensions by trying to start a conversation with their team in "Rhetorical Molds". Texty is a person who tries to be helpful and can also be seen as a bit stoic. They do not bother to use proper grammar when typing, as clearly showcased when they are communicating with Liam and Bryce from Bradley's laptop.
They desire to have good rapport with others and enjoy being with Liam and Bryce even if they don't entirely feel the same way. They are usually disappointed at being left behind on Liam and Bryce's trips to decode the notes and don't like missing out on exciting events. However, Texty is not afraid to go to the extremes to accomplish their goal, like when they insist Liam kill Airy when they find him in "You Move, I Send".
Texty enjoys watching funny pet videos in their spare time, implying that they have an interest in animals.

"Screwball"[]

Bassy perplexed at the sight of Texty.
Texty is brought onto The Plane, startling Bassy in the process. They question their whereabouts.
Stone grabs and brings Texty over to where Liam, Bryce and Amelia are gathered, ignoring their demands for Stone to let them go. Amelia is kicked out and replaced with Texty, thus forming a team of four. Later, as the challenge begins, Texty spams "A" until their text box hits the trees, making their team safe. They question Liam when he seems displeased with this.
During the stinger, Texty is seen with Liam and Bryce when Amelia approaches the group. When Liam comments on how it's Texty's fault his team was safe, Texty apologizes.
"Walls"[]
Texty isn't seen for most of the episode, though they let Liam know when Stone is running at him.
"Rhetorical Molds"[]
Texty isn't seen much in this episode. They are only seen trying to make small talk with their team.
"La Salle D'attente"[]
Texty is shown getting eliminated in this episode.
"Rattlepate"[]
Liam mentions Texty while trying to convince Bryce to open the door.
"Bradley"[]
Texty makes an appearance on Bradley's old laptop, which Liam and Bryce bought from his yard sale. Texty reveals that this is the laptop where they originally came from. Texty tells the two that they found some important stuff while they both were gone.
"Batch Two"[]

Texty speaking through online text-to-speech software.
Texty uses a text to speech program to tell Liam and Bryce about the important things they found. They reveal that they were only in The Plane for a few days but by the time they came back, their owner, Bradley, had already thrown his computer in the garage because he thought that his computer was broken. Texty used the time they were alone in the garage to research information about ONE.
Liam asks them if there are any living textboxes to which Texty replies with, "not any that i know of, but i've always had a feeling that I'm not the only one. that second batch of contestants assured me i'm not completely alone in my situation". Bryce starts to think that there may be inanimate objects living with them, to which Texty says that they assume so. This causes Bryce to stop using a chair in fear that it may be living.

"tf"
Bradley never turned off his computer when he put it in the garage so Texty had until the computer ran out of battery to research information about The Plane. Texty had enough time to find the Plane Database, which contains all the information about the contestants of ONE such as legal name, height, etc. They did not have time to investigate the website before the computer's battery died. Bryce and Liam are shocked with this information and decide to search the website. Texty changes the URL of the website a bit to display information on the second batch of contestants.
Bryce notices that the URL says "season two" and changes the URL to "season one" which shows a different batch of contestants that Liam, Bryce, and Texty never met. Texty missed this when they first looked at the website. When Liam and Bryce leave to find Oscar, Texty is left behind.
"Famous Last Words: It's No Code"[]
Texty is watching a video of a cat on a roomba when Liam and Bryce enter the room, which they close out of before the two notice. They sit silently on the table the rest of the time.
When Bryce wakes up in the middle of the night, the laptop is missing, having been taken by Liam.
"Universe Modulation"[]

Texty's perception of The Waiting Room.
Texty was carried into The Waiting Room along with Liam and Bryce when they died. They are taken out by Liam and see The Waiting Room as a funny dog video. They are put away after confirming they are still on the laptop and accompany Liam and Bryce to all of the places they go to, but they are not shown speaking. During this time, they are looking at The Plane Database website again. In the stone room, the computer begins to beep.
Liam pulls it out again and Texty tells him that the beeping means the battery is at 20%. Because the three cannot find anything in the room, Texty tells them that they found a way to kill the three of them using the code on The Plane Database. Liam and Bryce agree to be killed by this, and Texty proceeds to send them back to The Waiting Room after a misclick.
"A Toast"[]
After Liam realizes that "SF" stands for "San Francisco", Texty urges him and Bryce to go back to get a charger as their laptop is at 10% and they don't want to miss anything that happens with Airy's note. Bryce purchases a charger for $12.99 at a convenience store and later their laptop is seen charging on a small table in a restaurant. Near the end of the episode, Texty agrees to kill the three of them again so they can go back to The Waiting Room and try Airy's note. Texty follows through, but Bryce disappears prematurely.
"You Move, I Send"[]

"liam what's going on"
After Texty kills themselves along with Liam to go back to The Waiting Room, Liam asks where Bryce went. Texty responds saying they have no idea. After Liam looks at The Plane database, he decides to go visit Airy in his dimension, and Texty asks what's going on. When they enter the dimension, it appears to be a dark forest. Liam asks Texty if they can see anything, which they can't as it is too dark. After seeing Airy walk towards them, Liam uses the kill command on The Plane database to send then back to The Waiting Room.

"i'm serious. kill him"
Once it is daytime in the dimension, and Liam meets Airy for the first time, Texty tries to convince Liam to kill him, though failing. Before Liam goes with Airy to collect reeds for bedding, Texty asks to be left behind due to the fact that there is a waterfall, which could damage them. At the end of the day, Liam is seen typing to speak with Texty instead of talking like usual, likely to keep quiet so Airy won't hear them. Texty again tries to convince him to kill Airy. Liam instead tells them that he will go into the cave while he's gone, to which they respond "ok, just be careful". After getting a 20% battery warning, Texty asks Liam if he has the charger. Earlier that day, Liam had slipped and nearly fell off the waterfall, unzipping in the process, dropping the charger along with the notes given by Stone in the water. Not wanting to tell Texty this, he abruptly closes the laptop and goes to sleep crying.
"Self-Titled"[]
Texty is shown with no battery when Liam opens the laptop again, which means they're in an inactive state until the laptop is charged again.

Trivia[]
- In Cheesy Hfj's outdated batch of notes character concept from July 2019, Texty was said to be female.[1] They also appear with a feminine text-to-speech voice in Season Two (but use a masculine one when whispering). Despite this, Texty has only ever been referred to with singular they/them pronouns.[2]
- When Texty was first teleported to The Plane, they were in the middle of looking up "how to say carnitas in spanish". In "Bradley", there is a callback to this, where Bradley mispronounces the word carnitas.
- Texty holds a few unique traits from other Hidden Objects on The Plane.
- Texty was the first, and currently only known Hidden Object known to have originated on Earth.
- Texty was the only Hidden Object teleported to The Plane not to be part of the second batch of contestants.
- Texty was the only Hidden Object not to directly embody the object in which they were contained, i.e. their laptop.
- Texty was the only Hidden Object to deliberately reveal themself from hiding to others (knowing they were not Hidden Objects themselves).
- Texty was the only Hidden Object on Team A.
- Texty's font is Times New Roman, a common default font on computers.[3]
- During the yard sale scene, Bradley mentions that he was getting rid of his laptop because he wasn't able to type anything. This is due to Texty being at The Plane instead of the laptop.
- In the unofficial Plane Database website, Texty makes a cameo in the search engine if you wait some minutes without typing anything.
- When you click the search button without having anything in the search box, the site redirects you to a video of an airhorn, which is a reference to when Texty opened the same video in "Bradley".
- In Texty's perspective of The Waiting Room, the armchairs are replaced with the Froggy Chair from first-generation Animal Crossing games.
